Granada, Spain

Weber Alhambra- About an hour and a half north of Malaga lays the city of Granada. We checked into our hotel early in the afternoon and headed into the City Center and up to the Alhambra. Granada was a pretty place with older buildings mixed with new ones. The main tourist attraction for Granada is definitely the Alhambra, which is an ancient palace. The Alhambra is quite a big place and takes hours to explore. We took a bus from the city center up the hill to the entrance of the palace.

Gardens Alhambra- Our first venture in the ‘amazing’ Alhambra was the gardens. We completely underestimated the beauty of these gardens. These were no ordinary vegetable gardens. The gardens of the Alhambra were perfectly manicured, contained carefully carved bushes, bright flowers, water-fountains around every corner, and was a place out of paradise.

Arch- On our way to the mighty Alhambra fortress, we came across this big archway. It was quite big and looked like was once a grand entrance to somewhere special. Now, it stands beside some shops and other apartment buildings.

Alhambra Columns- There was a palace in the Alhambra that was very well preserved with more decorations than we have ever seen before. Upon entering this palace, we were greeted with roomfuls of heavily decorated walls, floors, and ceilings. The decoration was so intricate that it must have taken years to complete.

Alhambra Tiles- Here is an example of some of the decorations found on one of the walls in the Alhambra. Everywhere you looked, there was details and fancy intricate artwork. We literally took pictures of the ceiling, the walls, and the floors. The only difficulty was narrowing down the pictures that we took to a select few on this blog.
