Malaga, Spain

Weber Malaga- Malaga is a beautiful city located in the ‘Costa del Sol’ next to the beautiful blue Mediterranean Sea. It is only about an hour’s bus ride from Gibraltar. We climbed some terraced Moorish gardens to behold a spectacular panoramic view of Malaga City. Notice the round ‘Toro Stadium’ in the background. There was a ‘Plaza de Toros’ in every Spanish city we went too. The bull fighting is only done on Sunday’s however. (Not quite an appropriate Sunday activity, but it would none-the-less be entertaining)

Sardines- Just as we were getting hungry and strolling along the Mediterranean coastline in Malaga, we came across a small restaurant right on the beach. Malaga is famous for its grilled Sardines cooked on a bamboo stick. We had to try them. Michelle gave in, and tried them too. Riley, however, had to pick the meat off before she would down the Sardines. They were cooked over an open fire and salted. Besides picking off the never-ending tiny bones off the Sardines, they tasted quite good. We wouldn’t mind having them again if they were offered in England or elsewhere.

Riley Sea- Here is Riley chill’n by the seaside, trying to acquaint himself with Malaga. Fortunately, there was a tourist center near every bus station that offered free city maps with all of the popular attractions. We have a collection from every city we’ve been too in Europe. They come in quite handy, but we try not to be too obvious about handling the maps in public. By the way, Riley's shoes did not get ‘wet’ by the small waves in this picture.

Malaga Alcazar- This was an ancient Moorish Stronghold in Malaga. It overlooks the city and has a splendid view. It took us about 45 minutes to scale the terraced gardens before actually entering the palace. The Moorish palace, or Alcazar, was located next to a medieval castle, which we explored briefly before leaving a bit early due to a storm rolling in that we could easily see from our vantage point on top of the castle. Just as we were making our way down the hill, the rain began to fall. Fortunately, we always carry an umbrella with us.

Mish Alcazar- Here is Michelle checking out the Malaga Alcazar. Because we are both students, the admission price wasn’t that bad. Many attractions offer student discounts, which we are sure to take advantage off. The Alcazar was impressive but the view overlooking the city was what made the attraction so memorable.
