First time in Liverpool

Liverpool is also full of shopping, but it’s not quite the same as Manchester. A lot of British people still consider it a shabby industrial city, but in 2003 Liverpool received the “European Capital of Culture ‘08”! And it also celebrated its 800th birthday this past year! Now that it’s nearer to 2008, it has proven to be on track as the European Capital of Culture.

We didn’t see much of Liverpool this day, but we did see some of it. Here is a picture of Saint Luke’s Church. Below this is another picture with a description of the church.

Here is a strange thing to see in the middle of an English city. It is the entrance to China Town.

Here we are in front of the John Lennon Airport. On the bus ride to the airport Riley and I talked with a guy from Poland who is studying religion in Glasgow on an exchange. He said he hadn’t studied about the Mormon religion, so we told him that he’d better if he truly wanted to take his major seriously. He was a nice guy and he asked a lot of questions about being LDS and compared it to what he had been taught by other religions. It was a good conversation and he was really nice.

The Polish guy took this picture of us in the John Lennon airport. Yes, this is a statue of John Lennon. :)
