This city is home to one of England’s greatest football teams, Manchester United. Football in Europe is commonly understood as soccer and they call football in the states ‘American football’. On our way to Liverpool, to fly to Italy, we stopped in Manchester. We spent a couple hours there because we knew we wouldn’t be back before we left for Arizona. It is mostly shopping. There is a huge shopping mall and a lot of the streets in the center of town are lined with stores.
Here is a picture next to the Manchester Cathedral. There is a sculpture in the park in front of a shopping area (as you can tell from the signs).
Here is the opposite side of the entrance to the Cathedral. The trees are really green and pretty. If you can, look at the detail around the arch on above it.
Here is a picture of the inside of the Cathedral. It’s pretty big and has stone work from when it was first built. There is a lot of detail work on the interior too.
This is a great sign that we saw as we were going for lunch in the shopping mall.
This is Riley at the train station. We were now ready to head to Liverpool for a few hours before we caught the bus to the airport.
