Salisbury, England

The centerpiece to the town of Salisbury is by far its magnificent cathedral. The spire is a few hundred feet and the tallest spire in all of England. We arrived in train to Salisbury, located in Southern England on a Wednesday in late April. It was early evening when we arrived but we still had a few hours of light so our first stop in Salisbury was the cathedral. We walked around the cathedral taking pictures. We had to scoot way back to fit it all in the viewfinder of our camera.
Parts of the cathedral are under construction as you can tell by the picture above our right shoulders. We got a peek inside the cathedral for a few minutes but were soon booted out because they were going to have a concert (which cost a few pounds). We continued to walk around the medieval surroundings of the cathedral and town.

Here is some flowers located at a house that is next to the cathedral. Springtime in England is amazing with the leaved finally coming back on the trees and flowers of all colors blooming. We could not help but stop and admire the fine gardening and nice variety of flowers. You do not see that kind of thing back in Arizona too often.

Michelle is getting a nice ‘whiff’ of these beautiful purple flowers. These flowers were cool. Growing together, these purple flowers highlight any building or wall behind them. They added a lot to the beautiful surroundings. We had a good time walking around the medieval part of the city and past a river with ducks swimming up and down stream.

Here is the outside to a pub that we ate at in Salisbury. A pub is a restaurant in the United Kingdom that usually serves food but mainly alcohol. This pub had a ‘2 for 1’ food deal so we took advantage of the offer. Riley looked for Salisbury steak on the menu but could not find it. The best thing about pubs besides the food is that you do not have to leave a tip! Pubs are usually quite rowdy at night. We live next to several pubs in Hull that play their music loud until about midnight often with Karaoke blasting. With the Karaoke singing, we often need to plug our ears. Singing by drunks very loud is not something that is pleasing to the ears. One time we wanted to go down from our flat and sing the song ‘Beat it’ by Michael Jackson so everyone would make like a tree and leaf.

I would love to see the gardens in England--both the public gardens and the gardens at the homes of the residents. Beautiful landscape makes me happy!
