Leeds, England

About an hour and a half East of Hull and in the heart of England is the city of Leeds. Michelle and Riley hopped on a bus on a Thursday morning in late February of 2007 and traveled to see what the city had to offer. They immediately headed to the Royal Armouries Museum, which was only about a 10 minute walk from the Leed’s bus station. The view of the outside of the building was modern. You can see it over their shoulder on the upper left side of the picture.
The armoury amazed Riley and Michelle. It contained sharp swords, tough shields, fancy knight armor, castle defense information; many realistic models dressed up in armor, every kind of gun imaginable and even demonstrations of some of the weapons. It went through history and the evolution of weaponry and showed the cultural differences.

Riley fancied the guns in the case in this picture. More, he fancied the paintings probably. The displays around the weapons really made them come alive. The museum was educational and Riley’s favorite museum thus far besides the British Museum in London. Michelle enjoyed seeing the armor and taking pictures here and there.

One of the most impressive armor was the elephant armor. Even elephants needed to be protected. When Great Britain owned India as a territory, they probably used elephant armor like this. I wonder how much it weighs?

Riley and Michelle easily spent most of the day in Leeds in the Royal Armoury Museum. Leeds also had a lot of places to shop in the city center. They explored the local market with their bargains, shoes, food, and other market items. Michelle almost bought some boots. Riley bought some postcards of Leeds and a deck of England playing cards. It was a fun day trip for the both of them.

That is the exact questiton that came to my mind--that armor on the elephant probably made the elephant tired!
